Thalia Botsari collection featuring artisanal interior textiles in a colorful bedroom

Introducing My Debut Artisanal Textile Collection for Interiors

My Journey to Creating This Collection

I am very excited and filled with joy to be where I am today — launching my first artisanal interior textiles collection for interiors, under my name and brand, Thalia Botsari, as a textile designer.

This moment has arrived after taking a long break and deciding to leave my job last year. I had decided to take some time for myself — to be creative, to rest, and to make things that bring me joy. I didn’t know what would come next, but I knew two things felt true to my path: I wanted to start my own business, and I loved textile design.

Having taken a few months to create without worrying about what I would do next for work or how to make money was what I needed to find my creative spark — to be happy in the moment and to create with no expectations. After that time, things started to click into place — not in a day or two, but over weeks and months. Like a puzzle, I slowly started putting the pieces together of what a dream come true would look like for me.

The Heart of the Collection: Color, Craft, and Storytelling

This fabric collection was a culmination of love, of creative experimentation through color, textures, materials, and artisanal craft techniques. My passion for artisanal interior textiles runs through the history and craftsmanship of many countries, as I’ve spent years studying and learning printing, weaving, embroidery, marbling, and any technique that would spark my interest. I would use these techniques to experiment with ideas and to create beauty through handmade textiles. I wanted this collection not only to be an expression of myself but to also bring feelings of appreciation of beauty, color, and craftsmanship to people’s spaces.

Three Mini-Collections, Three Techniques

Embroidery

You can see through this collection three smaller collections, each inspired by a different technique: embroidery, marbling, and textile painting.

With embroidery, I have brought to life geometric patterns and symbols like the circle and the eye. These shapes were hand embroidered, stitching a thread at a time through card or fabric.

Marbling

With marbling, I have played with inks on water, moving them with my breath to create organic shapes where color moves and blends, then captured on paper.

Painting

With painting, I have used brushstrokes with watercolors and inks and added textures that feel timeless. These three techniques come together to form a modern textile collection rooted in traditional craft.

The Materials Behind the Collection

When looking for materials to print my designs, I searched for natural fibers, focusing on a combination of cotton and linen fabrics. Natural materials are better for the environment, and I love their textures and how they feel in interior spaces — soft, tactile, and timeless.

My designs are printed in Europe using water-based inks, and the printing technology used does not require wet post-processing of the fabric — meaning it uses no water at all during that stage.

The pre-treatment, inks, and softeners are all GOTS 6.0 and OEKO-TEX 100 (Class I and II) certified, ensuring that every part of the production process meets high environmental and human safety standards.

A Celebration of Color

I wanted both the textiles and cushion collection to be a celebration of color — a mixture of bold and also timeless colors. Here, I created a palette of blues, pinks, and yellows — colors that feel closer to the earth. This palette, while bold, is also calming and can be used in combination to create the feeling one wants. These are also colors I’m naturally drawn to, as I have been using a lot of pinks and blues in my artwork in the past years.
